Wartime dated wireless air gunner tunic, who was killed in action.

This RCAF service dress tunic is named to J.W. James, and it is dated 1942. John William James was from London, Ontario. He was with RAF 86 squadron flying Liberator aircraft as wireless operator air gunner. On the 12th June 1943 flying in Liberator FK226, they were shot down and crashed on the airfield at Aldergrove. John was the only member of the crew to be killed.

The tunic has a superb early pattern WAG 'big wing' brevet, Canada shoulder titles and RCAF buttons. The tunic is the standard officer four pocket pattern with a stitched on waist belt. It has a very nice tailored lining with three inside pockets, a tailors label plus inside the top pocket is a name tag with James' details (see photos). Size, chest = 36", arm = 24", back length = 29". The tunic is in excellent condition.
