RAF Sergeant Pilot, William Desmond Patrick Hindle Logbook, with official letters and photographs.

Sergeant Hindle was flying Blenheim 4872, on the night of 23rd December 1942 with his crew, whilst serving at No. 51 OTU, RAF Cranfield. Whilst taking off one of the engines cut out, and despite valiant efforts of the pilot, Sgt Hindle, the aircraft crashed killing all on board.

The logbook covers all of his training flights up to the tragic accident. It is stamped on the last page in red ink, Killed On Active Service. The logbook is neatly filled in and has official pullouts, rubber stamps and officer signatures. Included are 3 official signed letters, one from the Group Captain of RAF Cranfield informing his parents of their sons death. One from the RAF records office confirming his death, and one from RAF Cranfield's Chaplain. The last letter is from the RAF Central Depository returning his logbook to the family. Four original photos are included one of him in battledress and flying boots.
