Original Wartime bombing raid photographs for coastal battery positions at Heligoland, part of the German Bight.

These two original photographs were taken during the RAF daylight operational raid, where 36 Lancasters of 9 and 617 Squadrons attacked coastal battery positions with Tallboy bombs on 19th April 1945. Each photograph shows where the aircraft's bomb hits the target. The first photo is for F/O Laws crew, the second is for an unknown crew marked B9. Their bomb loads were of 1 x 12000lb Tallboy bomb.

Each photo is of 140 x 140mm in size and printed on Air Ministry stamped photographic paper. These images are very clear and can be viewed even more closely under a stereoscopic viewer.

Most surviving Bomber Command target photos were taken at night, so to find clear daylight ones using Tallboy bombs is very rare.
