RAF aircraft, air crew oxygen economiser.
This unit was an improved oxygen supply system to the pilot/air crew. Rather than having a constant flow, as in early wartime aircraft using D type oxygen masks. This system gave oxygen on demand, therefore preventing wasting the limited oxygen supply. It would have be used mainly with the G & H type oxygen masks.
Air Ministry stores Ref. No. 6D/1444, oxygen economiser Mk IV. Fitted with the correct Dunlop oxygen hose and adaptor, 6D/1300.
This bakelite sealed unit would fixed inside the aircraft cockpit next to the pilots seat, and near to each crew members postion in a bomber.
The hose connector would accept the bayonet fitting on the end of the rubber oxygen mask hose (see last two photo examples, with a G type mask).
Unit size, 12" x 5" x 4 1/2" with a 2 1/2 foot oxygen hose.
In a good used condition.
NOT FOR SALE to the EU.
