RAF Observer type Harnessuit.

Combined Flying Jacket for the two-point detachable pack (Observer's Type).

Combined flying jacket; Air Ministry stores reference 15A/955, size medium and dated 2nd August 1940.

This was manufactured by J.B. Brooks & Co. Ltd., Birmingham, England. The Observer pattern harnessuit had only the provision for a clip-on two-point chest type parachute pack. It is manufactured from heavy olive drab cotton with twin full length working front 'Dot' zip fasteners and working zipped pockets.

This suit is complete with the exception of the webbing harness, although it does have the very scarce original and sought after 'spring loaded' type parachute hooks. The detachable fabric stole contains the inflatable rubber yellow bladder and with the Co2 inflation lever in place. The bladder is in an excellent and flexible condition. The suit has an excellent large Air Ministry marked label with the contract, size, and date detail. Overall the condition is superb for such a rare piece of 1940 dated, RAF kit.

The Observer type suit is so much rarer than the standard 'combined' pattern suit.
