RAF navigator's bag.
Air Ministry stores Ref. No. 1A/3927, 1942 dated.
This rare light green canvas bag was used by the flight navigator to carry his charts, maps, pencils and equipment onto the aircraft for each flight and operation. It is approximately 20 x 20 inches in size, with flap pockets to either side.
Air Ministry and crown stamped on the side, with the stores reference number and a very good early 1942 date, which is the earliest we have seen on this type of bag.
The bag is in a very good strong condition, without any damage or repair. It has been used and the outside has stains and soiling to show this. The Newey press studs show signs of verdigris (see photos). The bag might do with a light clean, but we have left it in an 'as found' condition.
A rare and sought after piece of wartime RAF aircrew equipment.
