A pair of the classic Battle of Britain RAF flying boots.
These 1939 pattern boots are similar in design to the earlier 1936 pattern all leather boots. Instead, these boots have a vulcanised heavy cotton canvas upper. This pair have an Air Ministry stores reference code of 22C/227, for a size 7. They are dated 1940. The leather shoe parts are in excellent condition and the soles and heels have been replaced at some time, which is an old repair. The canvas uppers are in excellent condition, with very little wear and tear to the inner ankle part, where this pattern of boot usually show signs of it. The inside fur is very good and clean and odour free. Both boots retain their inner leather pullers which are Air Ministry & Kings crown stamped and have clear 1940 dates. A superb example of a much admired and sought after boot.
