RAF 1951 pattern flying suit

RAF 1951 pattern flying suit

Code: 10454

£200.00

RAF lightweight flying suit/overalls - 1951 Pattern.

Air Ministry stores Ref. No. 22c/1142.  Size 6.

This was the first of the postwar general-purpose flying suits, earlier than the Mk.1 suit and designed to replace the Beadon suit.  It was manufactured in blue-grey windproof gabardine Ventile material, and it used buttons throughout rather than zip fasteners. It is fitted with breast pockets and leg pockets. Adjustable tabs are fitted at the ankles with press stud fixings at the cuffs. The waistbelt is internal to the suit to prevent it getting caught up on aircraft equipment. The belt is adjusted by a metal clasp.

The suit is in a very good used condition, showing signs of a now removed squadron patch on the breast pocket. It has some wear to the cuffs and to the collar (see photos).

NOT FOR SALE to the EU.
