A rare WW2, carrier / homing pigeon box.

Constructed from wood it has metal clips and hinges plus a canvas carrying handle. Upon opening the top lid instructions for use are transfer printed on the inside, and a compartment is found containing original wartime (1943) dated message & map forms, a pencil plus two pigeon message capsules and a scarce bird feeding tray. Whilst the top lid is open access to the birds is made by lifting the front and rear wooden bar sections. The base door also opens to allow for cleaning. The box size is = length 14" x width 8" x height 9".

This box is in excellent original condition (with original paint) although there is some surface rust to the metal parts.
