RAF type C dinghy pack, for the single man K type dinghy.
The rectangular pack is manufactured with a heavy cotton material. When opened it reveals a flap with a variety of pockets which would contain various dinghy equipment (empty). Beneath this flap is a compartment for stowage of the dinghy (empty). The pack outer has four flaps each secured with Newey press studs and two lift the dot fasteners. A webbing lanyard with a metal quick release mechanism would fit into a corresponding part attached to the Mae West. This would form a quick release unit allowing the dinghy to be deployed swiftly when needed. A multi-lingual label is stitched to the cover. Two large snap hooks are fitted either side of the pack to attach to the anchor rings on the observer parachute harness (see last photo).
This pack is in excellent condition, with only very light storage soiling. It looks to be unused.
