WW2, 'original' RAF 1941 pattern mae west skull cap. Worn by the airman who found himself bailing out into the sea or having to take to his survival dinghy. The bright yellow skull cap helped the air sea rescue to locate and rescue him. Made from yellow cotton material machine stitched together to form a cap. This is then tied around the wearers chin by two cotton tying tapes. The cap is Air Ministry and Kings crown stamped inside. It would be stored in the pocket of the mae west.
In an excellent condition, with some light storage staining.
