A hand painted WW2 era RAF 511 squadron plaque.
RAF 511 squadron flew Halifax and Liberator's. This wooden shield (size, 10 x 7") has a gilt metal kings crown and squadron frame which is all hand painted, and in the centre there is a finely hand painted eagle over a compass, with gold lettering around the edge. Probably hung in the officers mess.
In an excellent original condition, with wear to some of the paint as expected with age.
