Rare, Air Ministry black rubber watch holder.
A.M. Ref. No. 6A/269, watch holder Mark 1.
This early type of watch holder was fitted to the Pilot, Navigator and Bomb aimer positions in RAF Lancaster, Halifax, Mosquito aircraft etc.....
It would hold the stop watch for an constant view, when timing was critical.
This type of holder had a tendancy to harden, and the rubber compound bacame brittle. This 'original' example is in a near pristine 'supple' condition, having never been fitted.
